Rifle & Outdoor Pistol Range

You must sign in to use the rifle or pistol range.


Sign-in sheets are located in the club house. Only paper targets are allowed on the rifle range. Cans, bottles, appliances, etc., are not allowed. 


Please adhere to all RULES below.

Rifle and Outdoor Pistol Range Rules

  1. Always keep firearms pointed down range or in a safe direction. Shoot only towards the target, which is backed up by the berm. 
  2. Members may only shoot paper/cardboard targets, or the club provided steel targets.
  3. Eye and ear protection must be worn at all times.
  4. Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting. Any person who has consumed alcohol or drugs may not operate a firearm.
  5. Stay behind firing line except to retrieve or exchange targets. 
  6. Make sure that all other shooters are aware that you are proceeding down range, and that the firing line is clear before proceeding down range. 
  7. When shooters are down range, all firearms must remain tabled with the actions open.
  8. Anyone under age 18 may only use the range under the direct supervision of a senior club member.
  9. All members must sign in & out at clubhouse before and after shooting.
  10. Placards and the sign in/out sheets are located inside the clubhouse
  11. Placard must be visible over shooting station and returned to the clubhouse when done.
  12. Membership ID must be in your possession when using the range.
  13. You must present your Membership ID if asked by a club officer or club member.
  14. Non-Members cannot use the range unless they are a guest of a current senior member. Senior member must be present with the guest in accordance with club bylaws.
  15. No driving vehicles on range. Parking in designated lot only, across from range.
  16. No cross firing from one shooting lane to another.
  17. No tracers or incendiary rounds.
  18. Classes are only allowed with permission from the club president.
  19. No shooting before 9AM on Sundays.
  20. Top of target may never exceed a total height of 5 feet. Bottom of target must be no less than 3 feet off the ground to avoid rounds skipping over berm.
  21. No popper targets.
  22. No Rifles or Shotguns at 50 Yard Pistol Range, pistols only.
  23. Pistol calibers only at 50 Yard Pistol Range (22 Long Rifle is the only exception).
  24. Please leave the range cleaner than when you arrived.
  25. Brass receptacles are for brass casings only. Steel, aluminum, and shotgun shells must be thrown in trash. Pick up your shell casings, trash, and used targets.
  26. Do not leave unfired "dud" rounds at the range. TAKE THEM HOME WITH YOU.
  27. Please report any range violations to the Board of Directors.

  1. Only steel targets installed by Swift River Sportsman's Club will be allowed for use. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  2. Any steel plates that have come loose and are on the ground and cannot be mounted, must be brought into the club house and left on the floor by the sign-in sheets. Please report any damaged steel plates to the rifle range committee, board member, or officer immediately.
  3. Steel core ammo is not permitted for shooting steel targets. This can cause pitting and damage to targets. Example: "Green Tip" 5.56MM
  4. No Rifle calibers larger/more powerful than 300 Win Mag.
  5. Please report any range violations to the Board of Directors.

  1. 1st Violation: Verbal & Written warning from President, Vice President, or Board of Directors.
  2. 2nd Violation: Appearance before the board to discuss violation. Outcome may include loss of range privileges or expulsion from the club
